‘Mockingbird’ nation’s top read

A ray of hope in a very tricky time in America’s history, readers voted, To Kill a Mockingbird, our nation’s favorite novel. PBS’ Great American Read survey announced Tuesday that Harper Lee’s 1960 classic, “a coming-of-age story about racism and injustice,” was No. 1 from the first day of voting and never slipped from that spot as 4 million readers weighed in over six months.
