After a long career writing for local newspapers — and, on rare occasions, for publications such as The Washington Post — Nora is enjoying a second wind as an innkeeper. She still blogs and does writing projects of special interest. She lives in Appalachia with her husband and a dog named Finn, who is beside himself with joy when the family's daughters have college breaks.

Those recipes look really good!! I’ve saved them to try.
Thanks for the recipes Nora. Fall is my favorite season to be eating. Pumpkin, Apples, Sweet potatoes oh my!! The apple toast sounds delicious. I’ll admit adding cheddar to apples is a new concept to me in my adulthood. Once I wrap my head and mouth around it, I find it a wonderful duo.

The apple toast is my favorite for an easy Saturday lunch — especially if I have a pot of soup!

The apple toast was what originally attracted me, but then I was waylaid by cake.

🙂 It was my grandma’s best work. That, and a cranberry cake she made for December birthdays.

New tastes are funny. I had some cheddar cheese that was loaded with chocolate once. I’m still not sure how I feel about that combo!

Oh, and in the Mid-West, people melt cheddar on top of apple pie. It is unexpectedly amazing!
